Welcome to Caring for All Beings Orphanage in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. We are a U.S. nonprofit dedicated to providing orphaned and vulnerable children with a loving home, nutritious vegan meals, education, and hope for the future.

Five years ago, I connected with Joshua Mufabule from the Democratic Republic of the Congo through Facebook. As I learned about the vulnerable children in his community, I felt called to help. Over the past five years, through daily communication, regular Zoom calls, and ongoing involvement with the children, we have built a trusted partnership dedicated to helping vulnerable children. I call Joshua "Mr. H" for Mr. Humanitarian because he is one of the most selfless people I have ever known.
Many of these children were living in small huts with anyone willing to take them in. They often slept on the ground, went hungry, wore worn-out clothing, lacked basic hygiene, and lived in extremely difficult and unsafe conditions.
In 2024, Caring for All Beings Center was established. Joshua already owned a small piece of land, and I contributed funds from the sale of a property to help make this dream a reality.
“We first built a small center with two classrooms, bathrooms for boys and girls, a simple outdoor kitchen with cooking embers under a small covered shelter, and a covered dining area. A protective wall was also built around the property for security.”
“Initially, 39 children came to the center during the weekdays for meals and education, returning to wherever they were staying at night. Sadly, many had little or no food after leaving the center, often going from Friday afternoon until Monday morning with nothing to eat.”
As Joshua and I learned more about the children’s living situations, we discovered that some no longer had homes at all, while others walked an average of two hours each way through unsafe areas just to reach the center.
It became clear that daytime care was not enough. Our small center gradually transformed into an orphanage. Today, all 39 children live together as a loving family at Caring for All Beings Orphanage.
The children receive nutritious vegan meals, education, medical care when possible, and, most importantly, a safe and caring home. They are taught English and practical life skills such as gardening, cooking, sewing, hair cutting, carpentry, and other trades.
The children are also taught kindness, respect, good manners, compassion, and the importance of helping others. Many now dream of becoming humanitarians themselves so they can help vulnerable children in the future.
I speak with Joshua on Zoom every day and regularly interact with the children. Watching their transformation has been one of the greatest blessings of my life.
Looking ahead, our dream is to purchase additional adjoining land so we can build more dormitories, become more self-sustaining by growing our own fruits and vegetables, and welcome many more vulnerable children into our orphanage family.
